Tulisan ini mendeskripsikan peranan Institutional repository sebagai media diseminasi terhadap informasi local content bagi perguruan tinggi. Metode yang digunakan untuk menjawab dan masalah dalam tulisan menggunakan metode studi literatur. Penulis mengungkapkan melalui kajian-kajian berdasarkan teori-teori relevan dengan tema diangkat oleh penulis. menyimpanan, pelestarian, berbasis teknologi akan bermanfaat jika didukung kebijakan open access informasi. Manfaat dapat dirasakan adanya penulis adalah sarana menjukan karya ilmiah terbaiknya, sedangkan institusinya mampu menaikan prestise serta visibilitas institusi di kancah nasional internasional. Riset berkualitas menciptakan keunggulan mengharumkan nama baik universitas repositori kelembagaan, meningkatkan minat pada tersebut, Repository membangun collaborative research antara peneliti dari negeri luar negeri.
